Silver Oak Elementary, a school known for its academic strength, is tackling a challenge that might surprise some – chronic absenteeism. Despite consistently ranking in the top tiers for standardized tests, the school finds itself in the "red zone" or lowest achieving rating for attendance according to the California State Board of Education. From April 29-May 17, Silver Oak students in grades 3-6 will be taking California state tests for language arts, reading, and math. In addition, 5th graders will take the CAST science test and fitness test, and 6th graders will take a math placement test for middle school. Click story headline for detailed testing schedule. Please plan any appointments during testing days after the school day ends so your child is able to take their tests as scheduled.
In celebration of Earth Day, our industrious 2nd graders are hosting a plant sale, April 18-20, to raise money for Silver Oak's garden. Mark your calendar to stop by the school to buy beautiful spring plants for your garden.

Do you have a high school senior that went to any of our Evergreen elementary or middle schools? Have them apply for an ETA Scholarship to go towards paying for college. Applications are due by March 28 at 10 p.m.
Within Evergreen School District we offer students the choice to attend one of our project based learning (PBL) programs for 7-8 grades. If you are interested in having your child apply for these programs, applications for the 2024-2025 school year will be accepted beginning March 18 for Lobo School of Innovation (LSI) at Quimby Oak and Bulldog Tech at LeyVa.
