School News
As a reminder, school is closed Friday, March 29 and April 1-5 for Spring Break. Thursday, March 28 is a regular minimum day. School resumes Monday, April 8.
Silver Oak Elementary, a school known for its academic strength, is tackling a challenge that might surprise some – chronic absenteeism. Despite consistently ranking in the top tiers for standardized tests, the school finds itself in the "red zone" or lowest achieving rating for attendance according to the California State Board of Education. From April 29-May 17, Silver Oak students in grades 3-6 will be taking California state tests for language arts, reading, and math. In addition, 5th graders will take the CAST science test and fitness test, and 6th graders will take a math placement test for middle school. Click story headline for detailed testing schedule. Please plan any appointments during testing days after the school day ends so your child is able to take their tests as scheduled.

6th grade students planning on attending Chaboya Middle School for the 2024-2025 must submit their Electives Enrollment Request through PowerSchool by Friday, March 28 at 4 p.m. Enrollment begins Tuesday, March 12.
Do you have a high school senior that went to any of our Evergreen elementary or middle schools? Have them apply for an ETA Scholarship to go towards paying for college. Applications are due by March 28 at 10 p.m.

Silver Oak School Yearbooks are now on sale for $35 through February 17. Prices increase to $45 for orders placed from February 18 - April 29. Each year, through the Box Tops for Education program, Silver Oak receives money for our school. By participating in this program, you can earn money for Silver Oak while doing your every day shopping. We are grateful to all our Silver Oak parents who continue to support our efforts through various programs to earn money for our school. Together, we can reach this year's Box Top goal of $1,000. Attendance Matters
How many absences are too many? Chronic absence is defined as 18 days a year—or just 2 days a month. Call your student's school office if you have questions about your student's attendance.
Parent Cafe
First Thursday of each month at 10 a.m.
Silver Oak parents of all grade levels are invited to participate in the Parent Cafe held the first Thursday of each month at 10 a.m. The principal meets with parents to discuss educational issues of the day and factors impacting student achievement.
