Get ready Silver Oak families—the Scholastic Book Fair is coming to our school starting next week. This is a great opportunity to connect with your child over the thrill of bringing home new books to dive into again and again. Look for more details from PTO and click the headline to read Principal Cardona's letter for dates, times, online shopping info, and more.
As we enter this season of gratitude, we invite you and your student to join us in celebrating what we are thankful for. We are creating a Thankful Tree to display our community’s appreciation and positivity. We encourage each family to take a moment together to write down something they are thankful for on a paper leaf, which will be provided by your student’s teacher. Please return the completed leaf with your student by, November 13, so we can add it to our tree and help our display grow with gratitude!

It's time to start studying for the 2025 Silver Oak Spelling Bee! This Spelling Bee contest offers all students in Grades 4 through 6 the chance to showcase their spelling prowess in a classic Spelling Bee contest in January.
Important Dates:
- Written Spelling Bee: January 15, 2025 (Wed) during regular school hours.
- Oral Spelling Bee: January 23, 2025 (Thu) 1:00 - 3:00 p.m. in the Multi Purpose Room.

At Silver Oak, our parent-teacher conferences are student led. This is an unique opportunity for students to take ownership of their learning and communicate directly with their parents and teachers. Please read this story to find out how best parents can support their child during and after their conference.
Parent Teacher Conferences take place the week of November 18. During that week there is no school on Wednesday, November 20. TK-6th grades have their regular minimum day on Thursday November 21 and Friday, November 18 is a full regular day. SDC Preschool will follow their regular schedule. During the week teachers will be meeting with parents. Teachers will email you soon about signing up for conferences.

In observance of Veterans Day, there will be no school on Monday, November 11. Please take the opportunity to thank a veteran for their service.

The Silver Oak Educational Partnership (SOEP) board consists of 9 voting members, each serving a two-year term. Half of the positions (4-5) change-over annually to ensure continuity of operations, and provide a yearly opportunity for Silver Oak parents to get involved on the board.
