It's showtime! Our cute little 1st-3rd graders will be performing some cheerful Holiday songs on Thursday, December 14 at 6 p.m. at the Multi-purpose Room. This is a Free for all event. Please enjoy this wonderful performance and let's make some wonderful memories with our little ones. Looking forward to seeing you all there!
'Tis the season to create holiday cheer for your friends, teachers, and support staff! Join in this fun Silver Oak tradition and support our Student Council while spreading smiles and happiness throughout our school. From December 11-15, students may purchase Holiday Grams during morning recess in the C-Wing. Read story to learn more.
Please stop by December 20 and 21 and check for any items you are missing or maybe even don't know you are missing. Items will be under the tent by the flagpole for you to easily sort through. All unclaimed items will be donated over winter break. The last day to claim items is Thursday, December 21.
Do good and satisfy your craving for delicious Mexican food at Chipotle! On Monday, December 11, join us at the Cottle Road location between 4-8 p.m. to support our 6th grade class fundraiser. Join us Wednesday, December 6 in the multipurpose room for the final round of competition in this year's Battle of the Books! Our 3rd/4th grade teams will compete at 12:50 p.m. with the Golden Readers 2.0 taking on the Book Burglars. At 1:30 p.m., the 5th/6th grade teams Rapid Fire faces off against the Bookie Monsters for the title of 2023 Battle of the Books Champions 🏆!
Please join us in congratulating our November Students of the Month. During the first trimester, we recognize students for Listening with Empathy and Understanding, one of the 16 Habits of the Mind.
At Silver Oak, we help students learn social-emotional skills such as responsible decision-making, working together to solve problems, managing strong emotions, and getting along with others. Each week, throughout the year, students learn specific skills. Next week, students will focus on Empathy. Read more to learn about this and other SEL topics students will focus on in December.

The PTO sponsored Birthday Book Club is a monthly event to celebrate your child’s birthday by donating a book either to the classroom library where your child’s classmates can enjoy the book or the school library for all to enjoy.
Character Trait: Courage Book : Ruby Bridges Goes to School or Ruby Bridges This is Your Time by Ruby Bridges. Theme : Be a world changer by standing up for the rights of others. Goal : Students will perform courageous actions that build a more caring, just, inclusive, tolerant, and safe school community.

The annual ESD Food Drive, in collaboration with Second Harvest Food Bank takes place from December 1- 22. Help us reach our school's goal is to raise $2500 towards the district's goal of $30,000. If we reach our district's goal, that means 60,000 meals for those who need it most in Silicon Valley. Please consider Donating Today. Thank you!

If you are looking for a place where you can receive parenting support in a protected, safe, nurturing space, please join us at our monthly Parent Support Circle. We hosted our 3rd Annual Stuff the Bus Event on Wednesday, November 15, thank you to our wonderful families that donated! We are currently still accepting toy donations until Friday, December 8th. Drop-off location is at the district offices, located at 3188 Quimby Road, San Jose CA. Between the hours of 7:30 a.m. - 4:30 p.m.
Please note, items not accepted, no plush, used, non-packaged toys or clothing donations.
