Mrs. Hokanson is excited to tell everyone about some interesting new books that have arrived in our library. One is a series that takes place in the San Francisco Bay area. She says students are really enjoying these books because they recognize the locations they are reading about. Another is a series of girl empowerment books. She is looking forward to sharing all these and more, so stop by the library anytime!
This week was a big mile marker for your child! 2nd grade students celebrated the 100th in-person full days of school. And, let's all give a big round of applause to our 5th graders who celebrated completing their 1,000th day of school! Project Cornerstone’s Asset Building Champions (ABC) program, parent volunteers read specially selected stories and lead classroom activities and discussions about building appropriate social skills.The lessons focus on values like honesty, responsibility, and peaceful conflict resolution. February Book is LONG SHOT-Never Too small To DREAM BIG by Chris Paul.Theme: Positive Identity & Self-Management (ability to harness one’s emotions, thoughts, and behaviors effectively to achieve goals).
Brighten someone's day and create Valentine cheer for your friends, teachers, and support staff! Join in this fun Silver Oak tradition and support our Student Council while spreading smiles and happiness throughout our school. From February 6-8 students may purchase Valentine Grams for $1 each during recess in the C-Wing while supplies last. Read story to learn more.

We have have 5 super energetic coaches who have just finished their training and can’t wait to have some fun with the Silver Oak GOTR girls helping them embracing their inner strength! 6th Grade Parents: The state of California requires that before 6th graders can attend 7th grade, they must submit proof of a TDap and Varicella immunizations. Please read the story for details on how you can meet this requirement and submit documentation before April 14.

Birthday Book Club is a monthly event to celebrate your child's birthday by donating a book either to the classroom library or the school library for all to enjoy. We will be celebrating January and July birthdays this month on Jan 27, 2023.
EVERGREEN SCHOOL DISTRICT NEWS
Evergreen School District is excited to offer a Spanish Dual Language program for incoming Kindergarten and returning Grade 1, 2, and 3 students in the fall of 2023 at Holly Oak Elementary School! We invite you to attend our upcoming in person Parent Information Night February 6 at Holly Oak Elementary School from 6-7 p.m.
Registration for the 2023-2024 school year is now open. Learn details about new student registration, Programs of Choice: Spanish Dual Language Immersion, TK, Project Based Learning middle school, and Homeschooling, and Interdistrict Transfer Renewal Requests for next school year.
