With the rise of the Omicron strain of Covid-19 which is more transmissible yet less virulent, the California Department of Public Health has updated its guidelines for schools. Those changes are reflected in Evergreen’s Covid-19 Prevention Plan. January 19, all students in grades 4-6 will take the first qualifying written test for this years Spelling Bee in their classes.
The top 20 students will be invited to participate in the Oral School Spelling Bee, outside, directly after school on Wednesday, January 26 at 2:25 p.m. Please note that parents/guardians will not be permitted on campus during the Oral Spelling Bee due to Covid restrictions. Parents/Guardians should be ready to pick up students around 3:30 p.m. that day.
The winner on January 26 will represent our school in the Regional Spelling Bee.
One of the best strategies to fight the spread of COVID-19 is testing. ESD has officially opened three testing centers. At each our of middle schools, anyone can get tested for COVID-19 and get nearly instant results. Monday to Friday from 7:15 - 8 a.m. and 2:30 - 4 p.m. Testing is free and open to students and staff in Evergreen School District.

Testing opens at 7:15 - 4:00 at our 3 middle schools. Pre-registration is required. Numbers will be assigned to students upon arrival. We ask for your patience and understanding as there may be some delays. Please note, all 3 testing centers at our middle school are open for ESD students and staff ONLY.
We are receiving requests to return to Distance Learning. As a reminder, the State of California law does not allow schools to offer distance learning. The ability to offer distance/remote/virtual/synchronous learning expired on June 30, 2020.
Despite the COVID-19 surge California is experiencing, in the absence of a state or local health order, Local Education Agencies (LEAs) do NOT have the explicit legal authority to shift to virtual learning.
