Martin Luther King, Jr. Day Observed January 20 - No School

In observance of Martin Luther King, Jr. Day school will be closed on Monday, January 20, 2025. Martin Luther King, Jr. was born on January 15, 1929 in Atlanta, Georgia. He was a Baptist minister and a civil rights activist, making a significant impact on race relations in the mid-1950s. He was a believer in nonviolent activism during the Civil Rights Movement.

This program is open to Grades 4 – 6 only and will teach kids how to do programming in Scratch language. 

  • Classes from January 21, 2025 – April 15, 2025 
  • Classes will be held on Tuesday mornings 7:00 a.m. - 7:50 a.m. with 24 students
  • Cost: $25 per student (for members), $30 per student (for non-members)

Keep on studying for the 2025 Silver Oak Spelling Bee! This Spelling Bee contest offers all students in Grades 4 through 6 the chance to showcase their spelling prowess in a classic Spelling Bee contest in January. Important Dates:

  • Written Spelling Bee: Wednesday, January 8, 2025 during regular school hours.
  • Oral Spelling Bee: Thursday, January 16, 2025 from 1-3 p.m. in the Multipurpose Room.

2025-2026 Registration - Opens on Wednesday, January 15, 2025

2025-2026 registration opens for grades TK through 8. The date range has expanded so more students are eligible: 
Students born September 20, 2020 - September 21, 2021 can now apply. Registration opens Wednesday, January 15, 2025. All registration is accepted online. Visit www.eesd.org for more details on the required documents to complete your registration.
