The Art Show display is part of the Arts Attack Program, which is supported by your donations to the PTO each year.

We need volunteers to help set up the artwork on June 2 in the morning and take down the artwork June 3 in the morning

Yellow Face Mask Strongly Recommended

A decrease this week in reported Covid-19 cases and one less classroom testing positive during surveillance (pool) testing, moves us back into the yellow tier. The yellow tier means wearing face masks indoors will be strongly recommended at our school. Our current COVID-19 positivity rate is 1.33%. During the week of May 16, 4 classrooms tested positive with surveillance testing. Please read the story and see our Silver Oak Covid-19 Dashboard for more details.

School Site Council

Consider Making a Difference in Your Child's School. Silver Oak School Site Council (SSC) plays an important role in decision-making our school. Our SSC meets 5-6 times a year and is made up of a group of teachers, parents and staff who work with the principal to develop, review and evaluate school improvement programs and school budgets. Viewing the Sun through the SolarMax Telescope

Dr. Elli Gates, one of the astronomers from the James Lick Observatory, visited our upper grade classes on April 25. Students were excited to use the new SolarMax telescope to look at the sun's edge and surface. Solar telescopes are made specifically for safely viewing the sun. Open House and Art Show

Parents and students are invited to join us at our end of the year Silver Oak Open House & PTO Art Show on June 2 from 5-7 p.m. We encourage you to arrive on time as classrooms are open only from 5-6 p.m.

This is a wonderful time to celebrate with your children the projects, writing, art and other classwork they have accomplished throughout their school year.

This month's character trait is “Integrity.” We will read the book, “The Empty Pot” by Demi. ThemeCourage, Honesty, Integrity, Responsibility,
Perseverance (CHIRP). Goal for May: Model how to act with courage, honesty, responsibility, integrity, and perseverance. Stand by beliefs and stand up for them with courage and determination. Honesty makes trust bloom.

Project Cornerstone’s Asset Building Champions (ABC) program, parent volunteers read specially selected stories and lead classroom activities and discussions about building appropriate social skills. The lessons focus on values like honesty, responsibility, and peaceful conflict resolution.

Measure EE Citizens' Oversight Committee Applications Open

ESD is accepting applications from parents/community members interested in serving on the Measure EE Citizens' Oversight Committee for the 2022-2023 school year.  This committee will oversee the expenditure of Measure EE Parcel Tax funds, ensuring they are spent as approved by the voters.  Read article for information on how to apply.

Middle School PBL Programs Now Accepting 2022-2023 Applications

Within Evergreen School District we offer students the choice to attend one of our project based learning (PBL) programs for 7-8 grades. If you are interested in having your child apply for these programs, applications for the 2022-2023 school year are now being accepted for Lobo School of Innovation (LSI) at Quimby Oak and Bulldog Tech at LeyVa.
