Birthday Book Club has begun for this academic year! Each month, birthday students will receive a Birthday Book Club Participation flyer, giving families the opportunity to participate in this optional LAR enrichment program. Fliers for students with August and September birthdays have already been sent home.
The PTO sponsored Birthday Book Club is a monthly event to celebrate your child's birthday by donating a book to your child's classroom or to the school library. Participating students are called to the MPR to select from a collection of books, and choose the book they would like to donate. If your child has a birthday in June/July, they will be able to celebrate their half-birthday in Dec/Jan. This is a wonderful way to enrich the collection of books in our libraries.
If you wish to participate in this program, please return the form with cash or a check (payable to Silver Oak PTO). You may also include a wallet sized photo (optional) of your child to be adhered to the inside cover of the book. Please mark where you would like to donate your book (School Library or Classroom Library), and return the form to your child's teacher.
Once the form and donation is received, students will be notified by the teacher to visit the multi-purpose room to select a grade appropriate new book purchased by the PTO. The picture (if given) will be placed inside the book with your child's autograph and the book will be given to the library of your choice. The book can be taken home and read with your family. Once done with reading make sure to return it to the library it was borrowed from (Classroom/School).
These books will be long-lasting gifts to all the students of Silver Oak to enjoy for years to come. We greatly appreciate your support of this program.
