Behavior & Culture
At Silver Oak we believe that academic success and positive behavior go hand in hand. Students learn best in an environment where they feel safe, respected, and supported and where strong character is taught, practiced, and celebrated every day.
Our approach to behavior isn’t about rules and consequences. It’s about building a caring community where expectations are clear, positive choices are recognized, and students learn the social, emotional, and thinking skills they need to thrive in school and beyond.
We use Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports (PBIS) as the foundation of this approach. PBIS is a research-based framework that focuses on teaching and reinforcing expected behaviors, building strong relationships, and supporting students at every stage of their growth. At Silver Oak, PBIS is woven into everything we do, from daily routines and classroom instruction to character education and student recognition.
Our Approach
Our behavior and culture work at Silver Oak is centered on four key elements. Together, they create a schoolwide system that teaches students how to make positive choices, think critically, and contribute to their community.
Working Together
Behavior at Silver Oak is about more than following rules, it’s about helping students grow into thoughtful, responsible, and compassionate people who make a difference in their world. Our approach works best when home and school partner together. By using consistent language, modeling positive choices, and celebrating growth both in the classroom and at home, we support students in developing strong character, social skills, and a lifelong love of learning.
