PBIS at Silver Oak
Positive Behavioral Interventions & Supports (PBIS)
PBIS is how we teach, practice, and celebrate the behaviors that help every student learn and thrive. PBIS is a research-based framework used across Evergreen Elementary School District. It promotes safe, respectful, and responsible behavior, improves school climate, and increases instructional time by preventing problem behaviors before they start.
What is PBIS?
PBIS is a tiered system of support that emphasizes teaching expectations, recognizing positive choices, and responding to behavior with consistent, restorative practices. Instead of assuming students “already know,” PBIS makes expectations explicit in all school settings and reinforces them throughout the year.
Benefits for students and families
- Clear, consistent expectations across classrooms and common areas
- More time on learning and fewer disruptions
- Positive recognition that builds confidence and belonging
- Early, targeted support when extra help is needed
- Home–school partnership with simple strategies families can use
Our Approach to PBIS at Silver Oak

At Silver Oak, PBIS is more than a behavior system, it’s part of a whole-child approach to teaching and learning. Our schoolwide expectations, known as the 4BE's Sabercat Code of Conduct, work hand in hand with the Habits of Mind and our Profile of a Learner to help students grow not only in how they act, but also in how they think, learn, and relate to others.

The 4BE's Sabercat Code of Conduct, guide behavior in every setting on campus. We teach and practice these expectations at the start of the year and refresh them throughout the year.
- Be Safe
- Be Respectful
- Be Responsible
- Be Kind
We explicitly teach what the 4 B’s look like in different places—classrooms, halls, cafeteria, playground, arrival and dismissal, restrooms, and assemblies. Our teachers and staff models, practices with students, and reteaches these concepts as needed. The 4BE's Sabercat Code of Conduct are posted in classrooms and common areas throughout our school to help remind students.
Responding With Support and Consistency
When behavior concerns arise, our staff uses restorative conversations, problem-solving, and reteaching to support students in repairing harm and rejoining learning quickly. Major concerns are addressed with the support of administrators and our student support team.
