Register Before Tuesday, September 17 to Participate in Battle of the Books
September 11, 2024 --- It is time to start forming teams for this year's 2024 Battle of the Books competition. This year we are using a new process. To participate, please sign your child up using this Battle of the Books sign-up form. This will help us streamline the process and ensure that everyone has a chance to participate and also communicate effectively with all our families.
Once we've collected all the sign-ups, we'll work with students at lunch to create teams of 4-6 students from the same grade level. Students from the same grade levels will battle at lunch against each other until we have a top 3rd grade, 4th grade, 5th grade and 6th grade team. In an assembly we will have 3rd grade and 4th grade battle and then 5th and 6th grade battle.
Please sign up your child by the end of day Tuesday, September 17, if they plan to participate.
About
About
Battle of the Books is a national reading incentive program sponsored by Silver Oak PTO that our students have participated in since 2012. Silver Oak students who will be in grades 3-6 in fall are invited to challenge themselves and join the fun!
Book lists are published at the end of each school year so students can begin reading over the summer. In the fall, 3rd-6th graders that choose to participate will form teams and compete in a game show style venue where two teams face off at a time to answer questions related to any of the stories on their list. There is no cost to participate in this program and all Battle of the Books are available in the Silver Oak Library.
Competition takes place in October and November. The top two teams for each grade level meet in the Championship Competition to see which 3rd/4th grade and 5th/6th grade teams win the BATTLE OF THE BOOKS!
