Intriguing Animal Characteristics

How do animals survive in their habitats?

This month's second grade FabLab sessions built upon their PBL (Project Based Learning) unit on comparing the diversity of life in different habitats. The students explored animal characteristics and adaptations that help them survive in their habitats. The students witnessed the effect of light on ultraviolet beads. They then created creatures using the beads and are in the process of developing a realistic habitat for their creature. The habitat models they are developing need to take into account the animal's diet, predators, sleep habits and ways to protect itself.

Students develop an understanding of diversity by comparing a variety of the earth's habitats.
