Silver Oak 6th graders will take the MDTP assessment on Wednesday, May 20 for placement into 7th grade math.
- Middle schools offer Common Core Math 7 and Accelerated Math 7/8.
- Math placement is determined by the MDTP assessment and other factors, including grades, standardized test scores, and teacher evaluations.
- Families are usually notified of placement in August when schedules are posted in PowerSchool.
Completing summer programs does not qualify students to skip classes or be placed in advanced classes for the coming school year.

- Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, and Friday: 10:45 a.m.–12:15 p.m.

- CAT: The Computerized Adaptive Test adjusts questions based on student responses to provide a more accurate picture of what each student knows and is able to do.
- PT: The Performance Task asks students to apply their learning through writing, reasoning, problem-solving, and multi-step tasks.
- CAST: The California Science Test is the state science assessment given to 5th grade students.
