Get Involved

Parents are encouraged to actively participate in the education of their child. A child’s success in school is best assured when the school and the home collaborate their efforts. Parent involvement in a child’s school gives the message to students that education is an important community effort. It also provides youngsters with a strong model for civic and community involvement as adults. Here are just a few ways that you can get involved at school.

Attend School Wide Activities and Events

Silver Oak Elementary School hosts many activities and events throughout the school year where parents and families are welcome.  Keep up with what's happening at school by regularly visiting the Parent Hub

  • In the school library.  Contact the school's library media assistant to find out how you can help.
  • Assist with school fundraisers.  Our Parent Teacher Organization (PTO) offers many opportunities to get involved. Join the Silver Oak PTO.
  • Work as a Yard Supervisor. We may have openings for paid and voluntary yard supervisors during lunch.  Contact the school office for more information.

ELAC is a committee comprised of parents, staff, and community members specifically designated to advise school officials on English Learner program services.  Additional information about ELAC can be found on the California Department of Education's ELAC website.

Watch for school news announcements or contact the school office about opportunities to participate on SSC and ELAC.
