Mrs. Therese Gordon Brings Magic and Passion to Silver Oak

Therese's journey to becoming a librarian is an inspiring one. After years of working in an office next to a library and witnessing the joy on children's faces as they left with books in hand, she knew she wanted to be a part of the magic of storytelling. Mrs. Gordon's own childhood love of books, sparked by regular trips to the bookmobile, further fueled her passion.

Mrs. Gordon brings with her 18 years of experience as a librarian, including 12 years at Holly Oak Elementary School, which she affectionately calls "the other Oak." Silver Oak is now fortunate to have her vast knowledge and boundless enthusiasm for books.

Like many of us, Mrs. Gordon has her own favorite childhood books that hold a special place in her heart. She fondly remembers the enchanting tales of Beverly Cleary and the excitement of getting her hands on the next book in the series each Saturday morning.

Mrs. Gordon's all-time favorite children's book is "I'll Love You Forever," by Robert Munch, a heartwarming tale that reminds her of her own sons and grandchildren. She's also a devoted fan of the Harry Potter series and historical fiction, recommending the "Dear America," "Who Was," "What Was," and "I Survived" series.

When Mrs. Gordon isn't immersed in the world of books, you can find her spending time with her two adult sons and her grandchildren, Gwen and Anderson. She also enjoys exploring new places, gardening, crafting, and trying new restaurants.

Mrs. Gordon officially started at Silver Oak October 2, 2023 and we invite all students and parents to stop by the library to meet her in person. She's eager to get to know the Silver Oak community, and we're sure you'll love her enthusiasm for books and learning.
